“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10
Many religions stress good works. The Christian faith stands apart from the rest, for good works are not a means to gain salvation, but are the work of God through us.
False religions credit good works to the accounts of the members who perform them. Christianity recognizes that the fruit of righteousness is through Jesus Christ and all is to His honor and glory.
“...having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:11
Apart from Him, “All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment.” Isaiah 64:6
“...you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” I Peter 2:5
Through Jesus Christ - the only basis on which our good works are acceptable. He is the One Who motivates and enables. The glory is His as we serve.
“...whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ...” I Peter 4:11
Only when you abide in Him, draw on His strength, rely on His direction, will anything that you do bring Him glory.
“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” I Cor. 10:31
