Our Needs Met in Christ

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14

How often have you prayed this prayer? In the sense that it is a benediction or a blessing? Normally you would expect to hear a minister conclude a service with this prayer. If and as you pray this prayer with Paul, what is involved? This statement of 23 words is freighted with biblical truth. It is at once a confession of the Christian faith and a tightly worded recital of God’s provision in Christ for all our spiritual need.

God: the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, are all petitioned in this prayer to provide blessing. The past, the present, and the future are all assumed in this statement. The grace of Jesus Christ exists and is available, and has purchased eternal salvation and is operative in our lives as believers. The love of God the Father was and is manifest with Christ and the Holy Spirit in the revelation of Himself. Praise God that He is a self-revealing God. How would we have discovered Him?

The fellowship, the friendship of the Holy Spirit! Is all of this reality in your life today? Praise the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. And share our great God with - Who will it be today? Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you.
