“ And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all men, just as we also do for you.” I Thessalonians 3:12
This is what Paul requested for the believers at Thessalonica, and this is what we must ask God for today. It is not difficult to love the Christians who are gentle, thoughtful and always ready with a cheerful handshake.
These things, however can be found at the local civic club and do not require the presence of God.
It is when Christians begin to look beyond natural temperament to see Jesus Christ in others and to love them right through their faults, that something supernatural happens.
Why is this supernatural love so unusual? Jesus said the greatest commandment was, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
The second: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matt 22:37-39
It is the lack of love for God Himself that leaves us short on love for one another. When we truly fall in love with Jesus Christ we will love those for whom He came to earth.
Pray today for an increase of love among the believers in your fellowship. Keep in mind that the love of God is foundational to loving one another.
