“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10
Do you remember what it means to be lost?
The word ‘lost’ means having gone astray - no longer possessed or known - not capable of being found or recovered. The word conveys the sense of a haunting void, darkness, loneliness, or regret.
Most, if not all, parents have either experienced or, at least, worried about a child’s becoming lost or separated from them. The thought is terrifying to any parent. The horror of physical lostness pales in comparison to the reality of spiritual lostness. People who remain spiritually lost will spend eternity in the torment of hell, separated from God.
To be lost means:
1. To be trapped in sin. --- Rom 3; Rom 6
2. To be spiritually dead. --- Eph 2:12
3. To live under God’s wrath. --- Eph 2:3
4. To be separated from Christ. --- Eph 2:12
5. To live without God.
6. To live without hope. --- Rom 5
7. To be already condemned. --- John 3:18
8. To live against Jesus. --- Matt 12:30
9. To be dying in sin. --- John 8:24
10. To live as a child of the Devil. --- John 8:44
11. To live as God’s enemy. --- Rom 5:10
12. To live without peace. --- Rom 5:1
13. To be spiritually blind. --- 2 Cor 4:3-4
It is a fearful thing to be lost! How grateful should we be that Christ came to seek and save us?
