To Know God

“Make me know Thy ways, O Lord; Teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, For Thou art the God of my salvation; For Thee I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4-5

How holy is God?
If you were to think of the very best individual you know and magnify their personal holiness to the limit of your comprehension - still, you would miss the essence of His holiness.

Why is it important anyway? Why bother to try to understand Him - Who is impossible to understand? Because, although He cannot be known completely, it is His joy and it is our privilege to know God at all.

Because the knowledge of the Holy God will change you, the seeker. As you behold the glory of God, you are transformed into His likeness. II Corinthians 3:18

Though in Adam you were created in the image of God, in Adam also that image was marred. But you have been restored in Jesus Christ.

“And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach.” Colossians 1:21-22

Why attempt to know God?
Because, the knowledge of the “Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10And because only those who know their God are able truly to praise Him.

“Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name.” Psalm 30:4

For this you were created - to reflect His image and to praise Him.
